Mr. SeungHun Im is a Korean Patent Attorney who has been practicing at LEE & MOCK IP since becoming qualified as a patent attorney in 2007. His practice focuses on mechanical and physics-based technologies, including patent and utility model applications, domestic and international Office Action responses, patent searches and analyses, FTO and infringement analyses, infringement opinions, warning letters, IP trials and patent litigation, and advisory and consulting services.
Based on his academic background in physics at Sogang University and his LL.M. in Intellectual Property Law from Bournemouth University in the United Kingdom, Mr. Im has particular strength in identifying the core inventive features of technically complex matters and translating them into effective prosecution, enforcement, and dispute-response strategies. His technical practice covers mechanical structures and equipment, physics-based devices, energy, power generation and nuclear power facilities, facility and environmental systems, sensors, optics and electronic devices, robotics and automation equipment, healthcare wearables, and medical devices.

Construction/Machinery: Successfully defended patent rights in an invalidation trial concerning “a retrievable prestressed pile, an earth retaining wall using the same, and a construction method thereof,” contributing to the client’s continued market position.
- Healthcare: Successfully represented a client in an invalidation trial concerning a “beauty treatment device,” helping eliminate the client’s infringement risk.
- Automotive Accessories: Successfully defended rights in a utility model invalidation matter concerning an “automobile mat,” and also prevailed in a related scope confirmation action, contributing to the client’s market dominance and licensing results.
- Water Treatment Facilities: Contributed to the early resolution of a Patent Court dispute concerning a “pathogenic livestock burial tank” through strategic settlement discussions.
- Design: Successfully obtained a reversal of a trial decision before the Patent Court in a scope confirmation action concerning an “eyeglass design,” and ultimately prevailed before the Supreme Court, contributing to the resolution of the client’s infringement risk.
